Sneak Peek98 viewsSample Entry:

materials:

CS: Bazill
Doodle Pens: Creative Memories, Aqualip, Souffle

Journaling: Dearest Maia, This photo was taken on your first trip to the beach. You could not be more delighted to be out of the house. Like your Ate, you are easily bored and I could see you welcomed the trip with gusto!
But Mama and Papa have another trip for you and Ate. We are going home to Antique at the end of the month and yes, this trip is just a sneak peek!

When did you start to put yourself last?84 viewsNina Patena
Materials used: cardstock - Bazzill; markers - Whispers; colored pencils - Faber
Castell; pens - Staedtler, Whispers.

Brief description of doodles/process:
I used a Maya Road sheer butterfly album page as a stencil to draw the butterfly in
the middle of the layout. I then added the borders then the doodles. I added the
lines for journaling last and colored each line a different color. I chose the
butterfly as a symbol of myself as a mom, as an individual and was inspired by a
quote I saw on a rubber stamp recently which asked, "When did you start to put
yourself last?"

Since my layout is journaling-intensive, hope it's okay to include the journaling here:

I read these words on a rubber stamp recently and the question just got stuck in my
head. I don't think mothers consciously decide to forget who they are. It's just
that it's part and parcel of being a mom to focus on the tiny miracle that we give
birth to. I can't help but feel sometimes that I'm a terrible mother for even
bothering with such selfish questions. Life, mine anyway, hasn't been that bad. I
know I'm luckier than most, with a wonderful husband and a great kid. But,
sometimes, whether I like it or not, I do need to ask selfish questions like this
just to remember who I am, where I am, and what progress in my life I've made. And,
hopefully, remember not to put myself last.

I used cardstock and watercolor paper only. All patterns and embellishments are doodles. I adhered the letter P as well as some buttons with foam tape for added dimension. The journaling and doodles were done using Sakura Aqualip and Staedler Triplus pens. I used watercolor on the title, buttons, tab, boxing gloves and journaling strips for a bright layout.

Materials Used:
Bazzils Kraft, Making Memories 5th Ave. Sophia Harlequin, Tinkering Ink Wild Woodland Puck & Striata, Fontwerks Green label stickers, Doodlebug Hospotch, American Crafts Remakrs Journaling Book 2, Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards Lucky, Bazzils Chipboard Flourish, Micron pens, American Crafts Slick Writer, Zig Pens, Signo Uni Ball, Adirondack Dabber
Brief description of your doodles/process:
I wanted to experiment and use as little color as possible to put more attention to the photo, title and journaling; but still maintaining a fun and doodle-iscious (if there ever is word haha) layout. I used different thickness' of pens, ranging from 01 to a thicker tip. I think my favorite part of making this LO was doodling on the chipboard, I think I got carried away LOL but it was just so therapeutic! I really didn't use alot of embellishments here other than the chipboard, I made use of the doodles as the embellys instead :-)
Journaling: You came into our lives 10 years after Achie ienne was born. Given the tantrumas and the :kulit-ness" . . . at the tender age of 6 you have become my protector, with unconditional love I get endless hugs, your Achie and I have become your best girls; your quick quips and crazy antics never fail to brighten our days. I should be so lucky . . . damn lucky!!! - love mom -

Materials used: Scenic Route Metropolis, SR alpha chipboard, SR arrow die cut, Love Elsie paper, buttons, pens and Faber Castell watercolor pencil

- I also doodled fillers on the blue background paper
- using white pen, I doodled on the surface of the buttons too (which I extremely loved doing!) and the chipboard title
- for the journaling blocks, I traced a journaling die cut, then doodled on the frame and color it with watercolor pencils.
